This year members of our landcare network aim the walk the length of Hughes Creek from Terip to Avenel and record its condition. This will be undertaken in a series of day walks. Sunday bimonthly. Short sections with car shuffles.
We also aim to host a challenging three day bushwalk along the most spectacular sections in partnership with the Strathbogie Ranges Conservation Network. “Hike the Hughes”. The upper Hughes Creek is very beautiful but hidden from the public by private land, very few people get the opportunity to visit these places. Anyone interested is invited to join these walks. The details will be advertised in the Granite News.
The first stage of this adventure started on May 1st 2016 when 25 walkers explored in Hughes Creek from the Boathole at Ruffy to the Caveat Mineral Springs at Michael Kopanicas. It was generally agreed the the scenery was specatular and cameras were busy recording our discoveries.
